Cimetidine tablets are a prototype histamine2-blocker primarily used to reduce GI acid production in dogs, cats and horses in the treatment and/or prevention of gastric, abomasal and duodenal ulcers, uremic gastritis, stress-related or drug-induced erosive gastritis, esophagitis, duodenal gastric reflux, and esophageal reflux. Cimetidine tablets have been used for the treatment of melanomas in horses, but efficacy is unproven.
